«Trial Europe» is the prizewinner of the call for projects “European Citizenship Support” launched by the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region in 2014 and the 2017 Call for Communication Activities about Europe launched by the European Commission.

 

Discussions about Europe elicit boredom and rejection from our fellow citizens. Organisations engaged in consciousness-raising and providing information about European actions struggle to renew their discourse. Drawing on this observation, we have developed a new form of debate which allows all social players concerned to address European stakes: a theatrical performance. This participatory performance is innovative and playful, while providing quality information. A team of comedians work hand-in-hand with European legal experts to lead a mock trial featuring real guests (elected representatives, experts…) who are called to testify in court.

Call for applications – Adaptation of the “Trial Europe” theatre play

Between 2016-2018 we have organized over 30 representations in France. 2019, was a successful year, we have organized over 25 representations, further the project “Trial Europe” was selected and funded by the European Cultural Foundation in the framework of the programme “Democracy needs imagination” with the aim of adapting the play to two different languages and contexts. In this framework we lunch this call for applications for theatre companies.
